Merry Christmas Hornet Family! May your season be merry and bright!
As we close out this portion of our school year, we are filled with gratitude. December felt like a month long celebration. From the beautiful sound of children's voices lifted in song, breakfast with Santa to the fun things our teachers planned for your children in the classroom this last week, we wrapped up 2024 with an abundance of goodwill and cheer. #WarsawInspires
Recently we had some pretty great Hornets graduate or complete educational programs. Mrs. J and Mrs. Nunez finished their Transition to Teaching program through Grace College, while Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Stiers received their Master of Education in School Administration and Supervision at Indiana State University. These women inspire us daily to do our best and reach new heights. Congratulations, graduates! #WarsawInspires
Washington 1st Graders learned about magnets. They used magnets to learn vocabulary such as attract and repel. Then they went around the room to see what types of objects will attract a magnet. Students also did a little magic! #WarsawInspires
WAY TO GO HORNETS! Our boys' basketball team gave a great showing at their last game capturing the title of City Champion Runner-Up. Our girls' basketball team had a nail-biting season ender and came out as City Champions! We could not be more proud of of each of them. Congratulations, Hornets! You give us so many reasons to be proud! #WarsawInspires
It's the most wonderful time of the year . . . to be a Hornet! We are enjoying this week of fun activities and learning about holiday traditions all across the world. #WarsawInspires
Washington 5th graders have been working hard on their Mars Pioneer PBL. Students decide if they would rather travel back in time to be a Native American or to the future to be a Mars Pioneer. Mrs. Tucker's science class has been programming LEGO EV3 Robots to complete missions on the Mars Mission board. Mrs. Guilford's Social Studies Class studied different Native American tribes and built examples of their homes. Miss Slone's writing class wrote a persuasive essay on which option they would choose! STEM Integration at its BEST! #WarsawInspires
Washington has a fun-filled Spirit Week planned for our final week before Christmas Break! Be sure to check each night to see what fun is in store for the next day. We look forward to seeing all the Christmas Spirit next week.
Outstanding job to all of our spelling bee participants today. A special, "way to go," to our Washington Spelling Bee champion and runner-up. Your perseverance and hard work paid off. The boys will go on to compete in the city-wide spelling bee in January at Lakeview Middle School. Congratulations, Aarav and Caleb! You inspire us! #WarsawInspires

SANTA!! We know him! Santa made his annual visit to our Washington Hornets and their families at the annual Breakfast with Santa sponsored by our "elftastic" PTO. The Hornets have been super good this year. They enjoyed meeting Santa and eating breakfast together as a family. 18 more sleeps until our jolly St. Nick makes his rounds. Keep being good Hornets. #WarsawInspires
Washington 2nd graders dissected grasshoppers this week. They learned about the internal and external anatomy. Students were able to see the crop, stomach, and some had eggs! Thank you to Mrs. Gough's high school dissection class for leading the lab!
