POSTED: September 30, 2024 ¡Hola todos! My name is Laysa Nocelotl (No-se-lo). I was lucky enough to have been born and raised here in the wonderful town of Warsaw, IN. Where I was also able to attend Lakeview Middle School and Warsaw Community High School growing up. After graduating from Warsaw, I attended Grace College where I majored in Spanish and Biology and had the opportunity to study abroad in Spain at the Universidad de Nebrija in Madrid. I am so excited to be able to return to Warsaw now as a second year Spanish teacher, for both Lakeview and WCHS. I am a first generation latina student and growing up I didn't have many role models that shared the same experiences, language, or culture as myself. Now returning as a teacher, I have been able to be THAT representation for other students like myself. While also being given the opportunity to share my experiences with the rest of the students and staff to promote cultural awareness and inclusivity within Warsaw Community Schools. Being able to teach in my native language and share my Hispanic heritage with students has been such a joy. Watching students get excited about Spanish and expanding their perspective on the world around them has been so rewarding and makes me so grateful to be a part of Warsaw Community Schools. In addition, in honor of Hispanic heritage month my Heritage Spanish classes have been conducting research on a famous Hispanic figure from a latin american country and their impact on the Hispanic community. #LakeviewInspires #wcsinspires

Posted: September 25, 2024 Warsaw Community Schools would like to extend our deepest gratitude to retired Lakeview Tech Jean Beeson for her continued generosity and dedication to our students. In yet another incredibly thoughtful gesture, Mrs. Beeson has donated a brand-new sewing machine to The Lakeview Sewing Club! The latest project is SEWING WITH A PURPOSE - students will be sewing kerchiefs and donating them to the Animal Welfare League (Insert collective ahhhhhhh). For many years, Jean has volunteered countless hours at Lakeview, leading Maker Club activities, teaching students and staff how to knit, and mentoring students in the art of sewing. On top of her teaching, she has gifted numerous beautiful, hand-made items to staff for bridal showers, baby showers, retirements, and birthdays—all made with love and care. We are beyond thankful that Jean will continue to share her time and talents, inspiring another generation of eager students to learn the timeless skill of sewing. Her generosity doesn't stop with us—you can also find her at Warsaw Public Library and Lakeland Christian Academy, where she continues to share her incredible gifts with the community. Posted: September 25, 2024 Lakeview Celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month Hello, my name is Mr. Medina, and I teach Spanish and History in the Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program at Lakeview Middle School. I graduated in 2015 with a degree in Tourism and Languages from Spain. I have a passion for linguistics and languages, and I thoroughly enjoy spending time with my family and friends. Some of my favorite hobbies include exploring nature, staying active through sports, connecting with people, and listening to music, among other interests. POSTED: September 16, 2024 Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 to October 15, is a time to recognize the rich cultural history, language, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. This month-long celebration is especially important at Lakeview Middle School with our Dual-language Immersion program, where we broaden students' horizons by embracing diverse perspectives and experiences. We have an amazing team at Lakeview Middle School. Our students are given the opportunity to better appreciate multilingualism and multicultural understanding, helping them value how different cultures contribute to society. By learning about Hispanic heritage, students gain a deeper respect for cultural diversity and the significant roles Hispanic individuals have played in shaping the world around us. This month is not only about celebration but also about fostering inclusivity, one of the WCS pillars. Today, we are featuring Senora Burns: "Hola! My name is Senora Burns. I'm from Argentina, and I'm teaching 7th grade this year for the DLI program. This is my 9th year teaching for Warsaw Community Schools. I'm passionate about inspiring students to embrace the language and different cultures with enthusiasm. I love helping them to connect with the language and culture in meaningful ways." I'm sharing some pictures of my DLI Spanish 3 classes. They have been working on getting to know each other and learning about our identity, where we come from, who we are, etc. I have a lot of students from different countries/cultures, and we have been learning from each other a lot. POSTED: September 12, 2024 The Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy started the Lakeview food pantry in March. They saw a need within the community and wanted to make a difference. Bags of food are available for all Lakeview students in need! There is a Google form for students to fill out if they have food or clothing needs.
