SCHEDULING & COURSE SELECTION
As part of a school guidance program, a complete student record is maintained beginning in kindergarten and continuing through high school. All grades, test scores, health records, personal data, and the like are included in this confidential record. All students are given nationally standardized tests. The objective evaluations of each student’s achievement assist the school in making decisions, which will help provide a more adequate program of instruction.
In addition, career information is made available through courses, participating in the Indiana Career Explorer (ICE) program, and Homeroom activities.

6TH TO 7TH GRADE SCHEDULING
Scheduling 7th grade begins in early February with an evening parent meeting. The following week, administrators and the school counselor will visit each elementary school to talk about preparing for middle school and scheduling. Parents, guardians, and students will have approximately 2 weeks before Lakeview staff return to the 6th-grade classes to assist the students in inputting their schedules in PowerSchool. Please take note that a student may not get their first choice in electives based on the numbers requested and how the master schedule looks.

7TH TO 8TH GRADE SCHEDULING
Scheduling for 8th grade starts around the 2nd week of February. Students attend a scheduling presentation to learn about how to select classes and new electives available to them as an 8th grader. They will be given a paper course selection sheet and the course of study guide will be emailed to them digitally. Lakeview office staff will help students input their schedule selections into PowerSchool during the Social Studies class towards the end of February. High school credit classes that are available to 8th-grade students do have a GPA requirement. If students do not meet the prerequisites, their alternates will be used.
Please take note that a student may not get their first choice in electives based on the numbers requested and how the master schedule looks.
