Welcome Back, Readers!
We are thrilled to see our students diving into their reading adventures! This year, Mrs. Scroggs has reintroduced the 5-Star Victory Reader system to help all students grow as readers using scientifically proven strategies she developed:
VARIETY – Exploring different genres and types of books.
VOLUMES – Reading two books every two weeks.
VISUALIZE – Imagining the story without distractions or devices.
VERBALIZE – Discussing what we read during our table talks.
VOCABULARY – Expanding our word knowledge through reading.
Our 7th graders are starting the year strong by reading a graphic novel or book of poetry, along with any free-read fiction or nonfiction of their choice.
Our 8th graders are diving into biographies and autobiographies, along with any free-read fiction or nonfiction of their choice.
OUR SHELVES ARE ALMOST EMPTY - YAY!
We’ll be VERBALIZING our thoughts and growing together as we explore a VARIETY of books, read VOLUMES of stories, VISUALIZE through our imaginations, and build our VOCABULARY.
