Students eating Mexican food and smiling

4th grade students at Eisenhower recently had the chance to visit the restaurant, La Pasadita in Warsaw to apply skills they had learned and practiced in class. Mrs. Love, Mr. Roler and Sra. Hoover took the whole grade level and taught the students how to stick to a budget, add with decimals, calculate tax, and make sure they had enough for a tip. Students in the DLI program also communicated with the wait staff and their peers in Spanish throughout the visit. This real life experience added a lot of excitement to their day!

One student said, "We learned how to pay with tax and a tip and we got to eat delicious food!" Sra. Hoover said "I'm so proud of my students for how they can use their Spanish in another setting. It was an authentic way for them to practice. It was also great to support a small business in the community."

Thank you to La Pasadita for hosting the Eisenhower Eagles for this experience.
