Children in the field playing feelings red light, green light

Today was just another average Tuesday at school, but our Kindergarten and 1st grade students had the chance to practice expressing their feelings. Warsaw Schools has been using the Kimochis curriculum this year in Kindergarten-2nd grades and our Eisenhower teachers and students LOVE it! It helps students to practice and name feelings, giving them words and ideas for what to do when feelings are big and hard to have or when they make a bad choice.

In the 1st grade DLI Spanish classroom, students practiced showing their feelings with their faces. They then headed outside and played a modified game of red light, green light. They had to show a specific emotion with their face and then stop when they heard "luz rojo."

Kindergarten students talked with the Kimochis characters Cat and Bug and learned what to do if you accidentally use a fighting voice instead of a kind voice. Mrs. Brumbaugh modeled this for the students and helped them choose the right kind of words when they have a conflict. We are so thankful that students have this resource to help them navigate life inside and outside of school!
