Honoring Elle Turley: A Legacy of Dedication
The Warsaw Community Schools (WCS) Board began the December meeting with a reception honoring outgoing board member, Elle Turley, whose term concludes on December 31, 2024. Joined by her husband, Troy, Elle was celebrated for her unwavering dedication to WCS since her election in 2016.
Elle's commitment to empowering students and fostering respectful, capable and helpful citizens has been at the heart of her tenure. Her journey with WCS spans over 16 years, beginning with active volunteer roles such as PTO President and guided reading instructor, culminating in her impactful contributions on the School Board.
Beyond the boardroom, Elle balances a full-time marketing career at SYM Financial Advisors, family life, and community service. As she bids farewell, Elle praised the collaborative spirit of WCS, highlighting the dedication of staff, teachers and board members. Superintendent Dr. David Hoffert and the board extended heartfelt gratitude for her service and wished her continued success.
Celebrating Speech and Language Pathologists
Kelly Meeks, Director of Special Services, introduced five of WCS’s Speech and Language Pathologists (SLPs), part of an 11-member team serving 718 students district-wide.
Highlights of Their Work
Hearing Screenings: Conducted at all WCS buildings for 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th graders.
IEP Development: Collaborating with parents, conducting meetings, and ensuring personalized support.
Direct Services: Offering targeted interventions to meet students' unique communication needs.
The board acknowledged their vital role in student success and thanked them for their dedication.
WCHS Student Council Updates
Griffin Roe, Student Council Secretary at Warsaw Community High School (WCHS), shared upcoming student-led initiatives:
Community Fundraisers: Collaborating with Wawasee Student Council for community services and Boomerang Backpacks. Efforts include selling t-shirts, “Chuck a Duck” contests, and class competitions.

Welcoming Steven Boyer: Director of Human Resources
Dr. David Hoffert introduced Steven Boyer, the new Director of Human Resources. Steven, a former WCS educator and administrator, brings nearly two decades of experience in teaching, leadership, and district operations.
Background and Vision
Career Highlights: Former English teacher, principal, and HR leader with expertise in instructional leadership and operational management.
Community Connection: A Warsaw resident, Steven is deeply invested in WCS’s mission. His wife, Jill, teaches at Eisenhower Elementary, and their three children attend WCS schools.
Focus Areas: Strengthening relationships, aligning HR goals with academic priorities, and fostering a culture of support and inspiration for staff and students.
The board welcomed Steven and expressed confidence in his ability to enhance WCS’s mission.
Calendar Updates for 2025-26 and 2026-27
Kyle Carter, Chief Accountability Officer, presented the finalized 2025-26 calendar and a draft for 2026-27, which was approved by the board.
Key Adjustments
Professional Days: Adjusted to Wednesdays (November 5, 2025, and March 11, 2026).
Semester Balance: Ensuring the first semester concludes before Christmas break for a fresh start in January.

Superintendent’s Letter to the Community
Dr. David Hoffert reflected on a successful first semester, highlighted by Warsaw’s first-ever appearance in the IHSAA football state finals.
The overwhelming support from businesses, individuals, and families showcased the unique spirit of Warsaw. Contributions funded student tickets, meals, transportation, and Tiger-themed apparel, ensuring an unforgettable experience for all involved.
