Warsaw Community Schools (WCS) and the Warsaw Community Schools Board of Trustees celebrated Dr. David Hoffert’s 10-year anniversary as superintendent at its regularly scheduled board meeting Tuesday afternoon. Throughout his tenure, Dr. Hoffert has worked to ensure that students receive the highest quality education, while also focusing on organizational culture and the recruitment and retention of highly-qualified staff.
Dr. Hoffert is a fourth-generation Warsaw Tiger, beginning with his great-grandfather's arrival in 1901 after serving in the Spanish-American War. His grandfather, grandmother, father, and mother are all proud graduates, and Dr. Hoffert himself graduated in 1998. His sons, Ryun, Robinson and Roosevelt are continuing this legacy at WCS.
Dr. Hoffert shared, "Growing up in Warsaw, I was inspired by my teachers. My dream was to return to the school system that impacted my life. I’ve lived by the motto: ‘Teamwork Makes the Dreamwork.’ I have been blessed to serve alongside incredible community members, colleagues, educators and students."
Terry Sims, Warsaw Association President and 51-year educator, commented, “I have worked with Dr. Hoffert during his tenure at Warsaw Community Schools for ten years. As president of the Warsaw Community Education Association, I have been honored to closely collaborate with him on many projects. Dr. Hoffert’s accomplishments and collaboration with our teachers and community have made Warsaw an excellent student-focused school corporation that has provided many new advancements for teachers, students and community.”
Over the past ten years, WCS has become a key player in recruiting and retaining the local workforce, especially within the orthopedic industry. Under Hoffert's leadership, WCS has transformed its eight elementary schools into four state-certified STEM schools, two dual language immersion schools and Leader-in-Me® schools, through partnerships with local industries and national organizations. In addition, WCS has addressed retention and recruitment with an on-site childcare facility, an employee health clinic and over 150 staff members have received strategic professional development through academic scholarships for graduate degrees.
Warsaw School Board President Heather Reichenbach concluded, “Dr. Hoffert is a thoughtful, hard-working, dedicated, empathetic, and generous individual who has served this corporation, our students, and the community so well.” The Board unanimously passed a formal resolution of congratulations, gratitude and appreciation for Dr. Hoffert’s service and outstanding contributions to the district. Those in attendance, including his family, enjoyed cake to celebrate the milestone. WCS looks forward to many more years under Dr. Hoffert’s leadership.
