Returning to the position of 2nd Grade Teacher at Jefferson is Mrs. Megan Welch. Mrs. Welch started out teaching 1st and 2nd grades in Kentucky before getting married in 2014 and moving to Indiana. She then taught at Jefferson for seven years, prior to taking time off for her growing family.
Mrs. Welch has a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and a Masters degree in Education, both from Johnson University, located in Knoxville, Tennessee. When asked about why she followed the path to become an educator, Mrs. Welch said, "I decided to go into teaching because of the influence different teachers had on my life, and I wanted to influence and inspire kids in the same way I was."
Mrs. Welch's husband, Jeremy, is the Youth and Worship Minister at First Christian Church. They have three girls: Ellie, who will start kindergarten at Jefferson this fall, Emercyn (3), who will begin preschool at Presby, and Haddie, who is 16 months.
Outside of school, Mrs. Welch enjoys spending time with her family, doing house projects, and crafting.
