We are so very GRATEFUL for Warsaw Dunkin and these Citizens of the Month who are masters at expressing their own gratitude! #Warsawinspires

Kindergarten students have been learning about owls. After reading many fiction and nonfiction books, students were visited by the DNR. Students were able to view a Kestrel, Barred Owl, and a Great Horned Owl as well as given a tremendous amount of information about each bird. Next week, they will be dissecting owl pellets.

Mrs. Smith was busy yesterday learning new ways to support our students as they continue their digital learning skills. A huge thank you to Derek Pike and Dan Graney for planning and leading an impactful training on K-6 Computer Science Standards for our Digital Learning Specialists (DLS) and librarians!
Yesterday’s professional development session provided valuable insights to support our DLS staff, who teach essential digital skills during library specials for K-6 students. These educators go above and beyond, delivering lessons in cyber safety, coding, keyboarding, and computer science alongside the American Association of School Libraries (AASL) standards.
Our team of 8 dedicated DLS professionals is making a profound impact across our schools, which include 4 STEM, 2 DLI, and 2 Leadership elementary schools. Their work ensures that students not only meet but exceed foundational computer science skills. Here are two core areas where they’re helping students excel:
Digital Citizenship & Cyber Safety: Our DLS staff emphasize strong, ethical online behaviors, guiding students on how to protect personal information and practice responsible digital habits.
Coding and Data Analysis: By introducing students to the basics of coding and data visualization, our DLS team is building a foundation in computational thinking and preparing students to analyze data effectively.
In alignment with the AASL standards, our DLS team also nurtures essential skills, such as:
Inquiry and Curiosity: Encouraging students to ask questions and seek diverse perspectives, building a strong foundation in research and information literacy.
Collaborative Learning: Promoting teamwork and effective communication to help students work productively and respect diverse viewpoints.
Information Evaluation: Guiding students in assessing the accuracy and credibility of information sources to develop lifelong critical thinking skills.
Thank you to Derek and Dan for your leadership and commitment to this vital work in computer science and digital literacy education. Together, we are preparing our students for a bright digital future!

Mrs. Doyle's 1st graders learned about what it means to vote. They had some interesting vocabulary to learn such as voter, ballot, and majority. They learned what kinds of things they may vote for when they get a bit older (most of them are eligible to vote in the 2036 presidential election!). They also practiced voting in their very own election. They were voting for what their snack would be the next day, pretzels or cheese crackers.

Students in Ms. Rode's 2nd grade class had a challenge to see which team could build the tallest tower using only 20 pumpkins and toothpicks. They planned, built, and then made modifications to their towers.

Many thanks to Ms. Kresca and Ms. Arnett from Purdue Extension for teaching our 3rd and 5th graders about the parts of a plant, caring for our Tower gardens, and maintaining the ph balance of the soil. They also brought them yummy apples to enjoy! We appreciate Purdue Extension for supporting our STEM program! #WarsawInspires

Our 5th and 6th graders participated in packing meals at the Feed My Starving Children event. What an amazing way to see what the money we helped raise for the event was going towards and to help others all over the world!

Our second graders enjoyed a salad bar snack today made with the lettuce they grew in their tower garden. YUMMY!

Our 6th graders were the first students to test out the new STEM lab tables and chairs. They were in the STEM lab to dissect squids. Some students were intrigued by the squids while others were not so sure about the experience.

Our 3rd graders had an amazing field trip to the boardwalk at Pike Lake last week. Along the boardwalk, students stopped at stations to learn about soil and water sampling and identifying animals by the footprints and scat they left behind.

Thank you to all of the staff and students who participated in today’s hat day to raise money for Feed My Starving Children! #WarsawInspires

Today our kindergarteners were little computer scientists in art. Ms. Hall taught them how to program mini robots to paint their pictures! #WarsawInspires

In Miss Zamora's Science Class, 5th graders have been learning about and building volcanoes. Today, they created a chemical reaction which caused the volcanoes to erupt! It was so fun to watch these scientists at work!! #WarsawInspires

A supershot clinic will be available at Claypool. See the poster for more details or contact our school nurse with any questions.
